FiSCA Names Ian MacKechnie, of Amscot Financial, as Check Casher of the Year

(Hackensack, NJ, October 8, 2006) - The Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA) today recognized Ian MacKechnie, founder and chief executive officer of Amscot Financial, as its 2006 Check Casher of the Year. The award was presented during FiSCA’s 18th Annual Conference and Exhibition at the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas.

“Ian MacKechnie represents everything that is good and positive about our industry,” said Gary Dachis, Chairman of FiSCA. “He runs a phenomenally successful and fast-growing business while at the same time serving as a textbook example of what it means to be a good corporate citizen.”

The company has grown from a single location in Tampa to 140 locations in 14 Florida counties stretching from the state’s Atlantic coast to the Gulf coast. Amscot currently opens a new location every 12 days. The company also has a well-established and widely recognized philanthropy program. Partnering with state and local government, as well as other companies, each year Amscot donates tens of thousands of dollars in money, goods and services to child-focused programs. These include the Salvation Army and the Missing Children Awareness Foundation. Amscot also is a company that people like to work for. It was recently recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” by a local business journal.

“Within FiSCA, Ian has demonstrated true industry leadership. Most recently serving as a founding member of the Coalition for Financial Choice as well as a member of FiSCA’s Board of Directors,” continued Dachis. “Our industry’s overall reputation … and the stature of our industry in his home state … are that much stronger because of his leadership.”
