Bill Sellery, FiSCA’s governmental affairs
representative in Washington, briefs members of the FiSCA Board as
they prepare to head for Capitol Hill for meetings with Senators and
Congressmen during the association’s annual Washington Blitz.

Rep. Sue Kelly (NY-19th) talks with
New York check cashers (left to right) Joe Coleman, Bill Siegel and
Matt Bardach, along with FiSCA General Counsel Gerry Goldman, during a
luncheon held in her honor during the Washington Blitz. FiSCA’s
Political Action Committee and individual members make contributions
to members of both political parties each year to support candidates
who are willing to listen to the association’s point of view on issues
of importance to the industry.

Rep. Jim Ramstad (MN-3rd) meets with
FiSCA Board Chairman Gary A. Dachis to discuss issues facing the
industry. Dachis, a founder of Minnesota-based Unbank, was one of
several dozen FiSCA members to make the trip to Washington to meet
with elected officials and their staffs.

Rep. Bobby Rush (IL-1st), far right,
talks with two FiSCA members from Illinois, Abby Hans and Jeff
Silverman, while Rep. Rush’s aid, Steve Friedman listens. FiSCA
members sponsor a variety of programs in urban communities designed to
improve the quality of life for local residents and to make
neighborhoods better places to live.

U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee (RI), left, welcomes
FiSCA Board member Bill Staderman to his office. Staderman talked to
Sen. Chafee about a number of key industry issues and the important
role financial service centers play in delivering services to
neighborhoods across the country.
