FiSCA Names Ian MacKechnie, of
Amscot Financial, Check Casher of the Year
Hackensack, NJ – The Financial Service Centers of
America (FiSCA) today recognized Ian MacKechnie, founder and chief
executive officer of Amscot Financial, as its 2006 Check Casher of the
Year. The award was presented during FiSCA’s 18th Annual
Conference and Exhibition at the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas.
“Ian MacKechnie represents everything that is good and positive
about our industry,” said Gary Dachis, Chairman of FiSCA.
“He runs a phenomenally successful and fast-growing business while
at the same time serving as a textbook example of what it means to be a
good corporate citizen.”
The company has grown from a single location in Tampa to 140
locations in 14 Florida counties stretching from the state’s
Atlantic coast to the Gulf coast. Amscot currently opens a new location
every 12 days. The company also has a well-established and widely
recognized philanthropy program. Partnering with state and local
government, as well as other companies, each year Amscot donates tens of
thousands of dollars in money, goods and services to child-focused
programs. These include the Salvation Army and the Missing Children
Awareness Foundation. Amscot also is a company that people like to work
