Gary Dachis of Unbank Named Check Casher of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gary A. Dachis, president of
Unbank Company, was named Check Casher of the Year by the Financial
Service Centers of America (FiSCA) and Cheklist magazine. The Check
Casher of the Year Award was presented to Dachis at FiSCA’s
National Conference and Exposition held earlier this month in
Washington, D.C.
“Gary Dachis is a leader in our industry. Gary gives freely of
his time to support the industry as FiSCA’s treasurer and as an
executive committee member. Moreover, Unbank is highly innovative and
very involved in the communities that it serves,” said William
Siegel, chairman of FiSCA. “He truly deserves this tribute because
he sets a standard by which the rest of the industry can measure
itself.”
Dachis has been in the financial services industry since 1975. His
background includes a wide range of experience, from real estate
finance, secondary financing, casino financing and check cashing
operations. He founded Unbank in 1983. The company, based in
Minneapolis, has 10 locations. Unbank was recognized by FiSCA in 2001
for its community service programs with an Activa Award.
The Check Casher of the Year Award was presented to Dachis by Brian
Burkart, publisher of Cheklist magazine, during a luncheon at the 14th
annual FiSCA National Conference and Exposition.
